Our Vineyard
We grow more than 100 varieties of grapes on 37 acres right in the heart of Leelanau County. Learn more about our sustainable approach and careful winemaking.
As farmers and winemakers, we firmly believe the old adage that the “wine is made in the vineyard.”
Established in 1992, Bel Lago began serving wine on the edge of Lake Leelanau in 1999
Today, our northern Michigan winery is known for crafting flavorful and complex red, white and sparkling wines.
We take pride in growing over 100+ varieties of grapes at our vineyards in nearby Cedar and scenic Northport near the shores of Lake Michigan. Varieties include local favorites Pinot Grigio, Blaufrankisch, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Gewurztraminer and Riesling, in addition to rare varieties like Auxerrois, Siegerrebe.
With an emphasis on cultivation, we firmly believe in the adage that “wine is made in the vineyard” – and the results speak for themselves. Our attention to detail and focus on the grape sets our wine apart from other northern Michigan wineries. Stop in and taste for yourself!

We offer six varieties of crisp, refreshing, flavorful hard ciders. Ranging from sweet to dry, our ciders are fermented from the juice of local apples. Join us in the tasting room to enjoy our hard ciders.

Nestled along the shores of Lake Leelanau, Bel Lago is located near the village of Cedar, a convenient scenic drive from downtown Traverse City, Michigan. A short drive from beautiful Leland, crystal-clear Glen Lake, the Village of Suttons Bay and the famous Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, our winery and cidery is en route to some of northern Michigan’s most treasured destinations.
